Lake Area Home School Chess Team
The Chess Team has fall registration. They are a k-12 chess team. Classes are divided by ages: K-5th and the 6th - 12th . The cost for the 2005-2006 was $15.00 for the year, and is subject to change in the fall. That included a t-shirt and participation medal. Kids do not need to know how to play, but do need to be able to sit still for instruction and have the desire to learn chess. The team has regular meetings with formal instruction. In-house tournaments take place on a monthly basis. The team also participates in local, state, & national competitions. Your child can choose to just attend the meetings and/or participate in the competitions. Due to high demand spaces are limited - please email if you want information about fall sign-up.

Homeschool P.E. Swim Class-Dynamic Dimensions in Moss Bluff - Thursdays, 2-3 pm, Cost: $20/mo for members,$25/mo for non-members.

Homeschool Band-Learn piano, guitar, violin, and most other stringed instruments. The band meets on Thursdays at Amazing Grace Fellowship 300 W. Lincoln Sulphur.

SKATING – Christian Music!- Skate City (Nelson Road in Lake Charles), every Saturday night from 6:30 - 9:00 is Christian music skate night. Cost is $5 per person plus regular skate rental.

Clay Classes: at The Potter's House School in Ragley, LA Only 3-4 students per class! Children and Adults are welcome. Learn basic handbuilding techniques and beginning wheel work.To Register: Contact Debbie Locklin debbie@thepottershouseschool.com

Art Lessons - Curriculum is available so you can teach art to your child yourself or an older child can teach himself using the book. Thou Art One with the Word, Much Fruit, Stirring Chocolate Milk, Photo Field Trip (curriculum coming soon), Testimony – tells how and why I am doing what I am doing and includes 12 sample lessons written in long hand.

Book-It Reading Incentive Program Pizza Hut's reading incentive program is now enrolling for the 2005/2006 school year. When a child meets a monthly reading goal, the teacher gives him a Pizza Award Certificate. The child brings the certificate to a Pizza Hut restaurant where he is given a free one-topping Personal Pan Pizza. Homeschoolers may enroll as individuals.

Homeschool Bowling Day – Petro Bowl - Just Show up!This event is open to all area homeschoolers. It is scheduled to meet the 2nd Friday of each month from 12-2pm (Unless otherwise notified). The cost of this event is only $4.50 for BOWLING, SLICE OF PIZZA & A SODA.
